2. Funny has to be personal, or it's just a joke
A generic joke gift is funny about men. A personal one is funny about him: his mustache, his love of Westerns, his very specific opinions about Bigfoot. The more the joke depends on details only you know, the less it feels like a gag and the more it feels like you were paying attention.
3. The laugh should last longer than the day
The anniversary reviews I get are rarely about the moment of unwrapping alone. They mention where it ended up: "placed on our shelf", "the hit gift at the anniversary party". If it can hang on a wall and make guests ask about it, the joke keeps paying off for years.

Not everything has to come from my shop. These cost little and follow the same three rules: personal, a slow-burn laugh, and something that lasts.
- Recreate your first photo together. Same pose, same place if you can, same questionable outfit. Frame the old and new side by side.
- A "year in review" awards night. Print certificates for his real achievements: Most Improved Parallel Parking, Longest Nap on a Sunday.
- Return to the scene of the first date, and re-order exactly what you both had, however bad it was.
- A menu of his catchphrases. Frame the things he says every single week. He will pretend to be offended and then show everyone.
Match it to the anniversary year
The traditional anniversary gifts give you an easy excuse for a joke:

How to get it in time
Here is how the timing works for a printed portrait sent within the US:
- Order and send 2 or 3 clear photos through Etsy messages, within 48 hours.
- Drafts in 1 to 2 days. You pick the one that looks most like him.
- Printing and delivery: 4 to 7 business days for cards, posters and framed posters, and 5 to 8 for canvas, counted from when you approve the final version.
So plan on about two to three weeks for a print. If the anniversary is closer than that, choose the digital file and print it locally.
Quick answers
Can I keep it a surprise?
Yes. You send the photos from your phone and approve the drafts yourself. He never needs to know until he opens it.
Can you put both of us in the portrait?

What if I only have casual photos?
